embodied narratives
I am interested in exploring authentic and embodied movements and embodied narratives. Before I start a dance project, I invite a process of creating words that express the emotions and sensations I am feeling in my body. This early process resembles the process Eugene Gendlin uses in his book Focusing. Sometimes, I end up with one word, sometimes with a list of words. From these words I create movements and, as they add up, they become a choreography without a narrative. I then perform the choreography in an outdoor place. Once I have the recordings of it, I edit it. As I watch the film, a lot of the words that were present at the beginning of the process show up in a narrative. I attempt to create a story that matches how I feel when I see the video.
